Former Tounsley Home

This home was built by Lot S. Tounsley in 1882 and members of his family lived here for almost 50 years. Mr. Tounsley owned a livery stable and store in Perry. In 1933 the Alton and Mildred Rainey purchased the property and lived here for almost 70 years. For two years (1931-1933) it was home for Fred M. Culler, the tallest man in Houston County being 6’6” tall as reported by the Home Journal. This house was built with an apartment on the side which could have been used as a preacher room.
