Persons Banking Company
A beautiful Italianate-style cottage built in 1874 by W. H. Norwood once stood here. W. H. Norwood was “killed” and left for dead twice during the Civil War and twice more thought to be lost, killed, or captured. He often said that his tombstone should have five dates of death. The house was moved in 1962 to 1303 Forest Hill Drive. In 1981 the lot was sold to the Bank of Perry and this building was completed.
The Bank of Perry was originally chartered as the Perry Loan and Savings Bank in 1889 and is the oldest existing bank in Houston County.
